ok...i want to try out of the spring concert at our school but i have to pick a song...i really want a ballad from a musical but it can't be from rent,hairspray,wicked or anything that is too overdone...i am a first soprano but i don't want anything too high in case i get nervous or screw up the notes...does anyone have any suggestions?

Choose something from 'Parade' by Jason Robert Brown %26amp; Alfred Uhry. It's not overdone at all and its inherent sadness will leave 'em bawling. "You Don't Know This Man" is probably the best ballad. "My Child Will Forgive Me" is a real tear jerker but it ends with "And so I forgive you...JEW." You don't want that.

Any of Henry Krieger's musicals has great music. The Tap Dance Kid, is full of great undone songs. "Four Strikes Against Me", " My Luck Is Changing", or from "Side Show" try "You Should Be Loved".
PHANTOM of the opera is amazing plus you get to have someone scream in the middle our school did that
